Help me right on this one please sis endtimes. As far as I know Gabriel asked Michael to accompany him when he had to go and tell Mary that she will be expecting a very special baby? *

Nowhere in Scripture does it say that Gabriel asked Michael to accompany him to speak to Mary. What it does say is that Michael is the archangel and no others are mentioned. He is chief of the angels as that is what it means. Also, the Lord Jesus ''will descend from heaven with an archangel's voice and God's trumpet..'' - 1 Thessalonians 4:16. Since the Lord is a King, why,if the archangel was lower in station, would he speak with it's authority unless Michael and Jesus Christ are one and the same. *

Thank you. I found that in the (NIV) Version. Just for a matter of interest why are Gabriel then called the archangel as well? *

halman 28.03.11 - 03:18pm
Hi Oubaas, Gabriel is never called an archangel in Scripture. It's a mistaken idea by some. *

It is noteworthy that Michael is ''one of the foremost princes'' and ''the great prince'' who ''stands up'' with authority on behalf of Daniel's people in Daniel chapter 10:13 and 12:1. In Jude 9 Michael is acknowledged as ''the archangel''.And in Revelation 12: 7-9,it is he and his angels who fight the war in heaven to throw out Satan and his angels down to the vicinity of the earth. *

There are many who believe that Michael and Jesus Christ are one and the same.Even in times past people such as John Calvin and John Wesley believed such. Calvin's writings can be found online and Wesley can be checked also. The Geneva Bible also makes comment on them being the same. *
